Worthwhile donation for tax credit

I made a 'don ponctuel' specifically because of the 'réduction d'impôt 66%' benefit. The process of donating was very clear, and I received the 'attestation de don' later, confirming everything for my taxes. Knowing a significant portion comes back as a tax credit makes the donation feel even more impactful and budget-friendly. It's definitely worth it if you're looking to support a good cause while also optimizing your fiscal situation.

Detailed feedback on donation process

I completed a 'don ponctuel' through the website. The navigation to the donation page was intuitive, and the payment portal itself felt secure, which is important for online transactions. I used my credit card, and the confirmation email arrived almost instantly, detailing the amount and acknowledging the contribution. Later, I received the 'reçu fiscal' via email which is convenient for record-keeping. They also have FAQs explaining how funds are used, which adds transparency. My only minor point is the 'reçu fiscal' took about 10 days to arrive after the initial confirmation, which was within their stated timeframe, but a bit on the longer side for an email document.

Good cause, felt good

Just did a 'don ponctuel' online, it was super easy. Wanted to support humanitarian stuff and this seemed like a solid place. The website was simple, no hassle at all. Felt good to contribute to a good cause without any faff. Pretty happy with it.

Consistent support, reliable impact

This wasn't my first time donating to SOS Attitude; I've been doing a 'don mensuel' for over a year now. Their website is always consistent, and setting up the recurring payment was simple from the start. I appreciate that they always send the 'attestation fiscale annuelle' without me having to chase it down. It's comforting to know my contributions are reliably going to emergency logistics and support, same as every other time.

Easy donation, slow receipt

I made a 'don ponctuel' last month to SOS Attitude. The online process was straightforward, simple to navigate, and my payment went through without a hitch. I appreciate knowing where my funds are going with their clear mission statement. However, it took almost three weeks to get my 'reçu fiscal,' which felt a bit long. Not a huge deal, but quicker processing of those would be a plus for planning tax filings.

Are donations to SOS Attitude really tax deductible in the US? I know it's a French NGO, so just curious if it applies.

M Matt B. 1 month ago
I don't think it is for US taxes. The 66% tax credit is a French thing for French taxpayers. You'd probably need to check with a tax professional specific to your US situation.

R Robert 4 weeks ago
Yeah, pretty sure the tax benefits they talk about are for French residents. As a US donor, it's more of a charitable contribution than a direct tax deduction like that, afaik.

Any promo codes for first-time donations or anything like that? Or is it just straight up donations?

K Kyle Taylor 4 weeks ago
Nah, it's a non-profit, so they don't really do promo codes or coupons like a regular store would. It's just straight donations.
0
M Mary T. 3 weeks ago
You won't find coupons for them. The 'deal' is the tax deduction you get for donating if you're eligible for the French tax system.

I'm looking to donate to an org that provides immediate disaster relief, like tents and kits. How does SOS Attitude compare to, say, Doctors Without Borders or the Red Cross in that specific area?

I Ian W. 1 month ago
SOS Attitude is really focused on that rapid shelter and survival kit stuff, plus logistics. Doctors Without Borders is more medical, and Red Cross is broader but maybe not as specialized in the 'shelter' bit for rapid deployment.

D Daniel Nguyen 1 month ago
From what I gather, SOS Attitude is super specialized in the emergency logistics and getting those survival kits and temporary shelters out fast. Others like Red Cross cover a huge range, but SOS Attitude might be more 'niche' for what you're looking for specifically regarding shelters.

thinking of doing a monthly donation, but what if I need to change the amount later on? is it a huge hassle to adjust it?

S Stephanie Walker 5 days ago
Nah, it's pretty easy from what I've heard. My friend adjusted hers a couple of times, said it was just a quick online form or email.

I haven't done it myself, but I remember seeing something on their site about being able to modify your monthly giving. Shouldn't be a problem.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows how the tax receipt works if I donate? Like, do they send it automatically or do I need to request it?

S Susan T. 2 weeks ago
Yeah, they send it automatically. I got mine last year for my December donation, showed up in my email a few weeks after.

R Richard Flores 2 weeks ago
I think for monthly donations, they send one big one at the end of the year covering all your contributions. At least, that's what happened for me with another similar org, I assume it's the same here.
